Flyboarding in the UK!

Thursday, May 04, 2017

As it is the start of the 2017 season we felt compelled to write a spring blog article about Flyboarding.

Over the winter we have been developing our Flyboard hose range. As part of our development we sent our hose to Sonnie Bean, one of the world’s top ranking champions in the watersport. A few weeks later we received some excellent action shots of our Flyboarding hose in action!

The pictures are of our Hydro-Pro XF being put through its paces by Sonnie Bean are exhilarating, it’s certainly not something for the faint hearted and looks like a lot of fun!

We are hoping to send our Joe out for a trial sometime to see how a novice gets on and whether he actually manages to stay on it long enough to have a picture taken. Find out more product information here.

Happy Christmas!

Thursday, December 22, 2016

We are fast approaching the last few moments of an eventful year celebrating our 25th anniversary. It is always interesting looking back at how we used to do things and how modern techniques and advancements have played a part in our evolution and how we operate today. Here at RHL we believe change is ever present and we are always looking to keep a step ahead, whether it be our products, our methods or our level of service we are always looking to improve what we offer to our customers. Our aim is to provide the best service we can and to do that it takes a lot of effort from many hardworking people behind the scenes. Some of the changes we make may be quite obvious but there are many others that are being carried out without being seen in order to develop our overall customer experience and to ensure that you continue to return to us.

As we approach the year end we would like to thank the continued efforts of staff for their contribution towards our success over this period together with the dedicated support and back up that we receive from Parsch in Germany.

Our biggest thanks of all must go to all of our customers who have supported us for many years. We have seen many of you grow in size and stature over that time and have continued to remain loyal to us and we hope you will continue to do so for many years to come. To those of you that are new to us we hope to build a long and trusting relationship with you over the coming months.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all!

You will have seen our new website which is now up and running!

We still have a few tweaks and alterations to make but we wanted to showcase what we have been up to over the past few months and to get a bit of feedback. If you feel you can offer some constructive criticism or if there is something that we need to specifically add then we would be very pleased to hear from you. There are several things that we plan to add as we go forward but any suggestions would be most welcome.

There have been many changes along the way as we have grown and evolved to where we are now.

It has taken a lot of effort from many hardworking people over the past 25 years to achieve such a feat. I would like to personally thank all staff, past and present for what they have contributed to our success over this period. I am very thankful to Parsch in Germany for their continual support as well as giving a mention to Dennis Wilson, my predecessor, for the work and effort he put in to get the Company established in those early days.

Our biggest thanks of all must go to all of our customers who have supported us over the past 25 years .We have seen many of you grow in size and stature over that time and have continued to remain loyal to us and we hope you will do so over the next 25 years. We could not have achieved any of this without you,

Thank you

100 years of NW Chamber of Commerce

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

The North & Western Lancashire of Commerce celebrates its centenary in 2016, having been founded in March 1916. It will be an anniversary which we aim to celebrate with them, as we were one of the first 100 members to join the Chamber.

The Chamber kindly invited us along to celebrate this milestone to their sponsored Preston North End championship match vs Burnley F.C. So who better to send along than our company manager Joe Hesmondhalgh, a life long PNE fan.

Other than the result, the day was thoroughly enjoyable and we are now proud to have our commemorative membership certificate hanging on the wall.

Congratulations North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and thank you from all at Richards Hose!

New plans!

Monday, November 16, 2015

New plans have been revealed for the origin of Richard’s Hose LTD. Broadford mill has been under debate after being disused for so long and becoming a hazardous environment. Earlier this year because of a fire caused by a teenager, the building had recieved many negative opinions and was set to be demolished, see here for more information.

Since the proposal in October a rival plan has emerged offering to transform the site, creating homes, student accomodation, a nursery and restaurant facilities.

The site contains a huge number of some of the oldest 19th century buildings in Britain some dating back to 1808.

A worker's account

Friday, October 23, 2015

‘I was born in 1917 and when i was 20 years of age I worked in Broadfords in Aberdeen making hose, material for the water bottles and tarpaulins for the navy. I worked at Broadfords for 46 years in total.I enjoyed the war.I used to come to the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen during all the war years and there were good dance bands. There was soliders stationed nearby during the war, they used to come to the dances and I really enjoyed it all.’

Frances Fowler ( Nee Sinclair) worked at Broadford’s after the war and it was disgusting smelly and had a choking atmoosphere which was difficult to work in,despite that many of the women were smoking cigarettes, the smell of jute permeated her clothes and she came home coughing .It was a very dusty environment and they had to improvise to keep the dust out of her lungs with head scarves. As a former worker of Broadfords she died of emphysema due to inhaling industrial dust and smoking.
